Open the shutter slats and place a duster between the upper slats. Start on one side of the blind and pull the duster to the other side. Go from one bar to another until they are all clear. If you have a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, use it as a dusting tool. Close the blind slats and gently press the brush attachment to the side of the upper slat. Pull the brush from one side to the other and move down to the next bar.

Cleaning of outdoor aluminum blinds

Aluminum blinds accumulate stains from household cleaners such as glass cleaner and furniture polish and require a more extensive form of cleaning. The best way to do a general cleaning of your blinds without using bleach is to clean them outside.

Take the aluminum blinds from the window and take them outside. Use S-hooks to attach them to a clothesline, tree branch, or another hanging area. Pour water into a bucket and add a few drops of detergent. Dip a soft sponge in the solution and clean the top rail by pulling the sponge from side to side. Repeat the process with each slat when you reach the end of the blind. Use a garden hose to spray the soapy water off the blinds, and then let them dry in the sun.

Cleaning aluminum mini blinds with a solution of soap and water is ideal for removing accumulated everyday dirt and dust. Soapy water is an all-purpose cleaner that is cheap and effective.

Dish soap, hot water, a bucket, a sock, and a soft cloth

Pour water into a container or bucket and add a small amount of detergent. Place your hand in an old clean sock and soak it in soapy water. Squeeze out excess water and wrap your hand around the top lamella. Gently run your hand from side to side or top to bottom to remove dust. Rinse the dirt from the sock and repeat the cleaning process with the other lamellas until you reach the end. Dry the blinds with a soft cloth or allow them to air dry freely.
